PS3 more than just a game console. Really?!

So, it's official. PS3 is not a game console anymore. It's said to be a computer! Yeah, really. Ken Kutaragi, "The Father of the PlayStation" and the president of Sony said that. "PS3 will have no problem adopting new hardware parts," meaning not necessarily an "upgradable" console but different versions of PS3 being released someday in the future.
OK, why not? Microsoft is going to release a new version of Xbox 360 in Q1 2007 too. But there are a few problems: are the early adopters - market segment for which Sony is aiming first of all - going to buy PS3 even though they'd know they don't have the best machine? Second, what about the developers? For which configuration should they develop their products? Third, where's the advantage of consoles against PCs? Fourth, what's PS3 for as a computer without keyboard?
But that's not all. Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer has been recently interviewed by Wall Street Journal. Without any constraints he admitted he admires Bill Gates and Xbox 360. Sony is damned already!
